Known as 'The Golden Voice of Rock 'n' Roll', Ray Peterson was a genuinely remarkable singer with a four-and-a-half octave range. His passionate and dramatic singing style and powerful onstage presence made him a popular live performer and he carved out a big career in Las Vegas, as well as a string of hit records.\r
\r
Peterson famously recorded the original versions of two of the 20th century's iconic R 'n' R songs, 'The Wonder of You' (later revived so spectacularly by Elvis) and the controversial death-disc 'Tell Laura I Love Her', both of which were million sellers. He also famously worked with a very young Phil Spector at the outset of the latter's career, with whom he recorded the million-selling 'Corrina-Corrina' plus a couple of smaller hits, 'Be My Girl' and 'I Could Have Loved You So Well'.\r
\r
Alongside the hits on this 30 track set are a couple of other Rock 'n' Roll rarities which presents the Very Best of his recordings from 1957 to 1962.
